Counselling for Expats Living in India and Indians Living Abroad
Online sessions if you're abroad, in-person sessions if you're in Delhi. Jaya Sahdev has spent over a decade counselling students, couples and families through CBSE and ICSE schools before founding The Soul Square, and holds a Master's in Psychology plus a PG Diploma in Guidance and Counselling from NCERT.
Who This Is For
Two different situations, both dealt with regularly here.
Indians Living Abroad
Many NRI clients say the hardest part of therapy abroad is explaining the family dynamics before even getting to the actual problem. That step gets skipped here.
- Homesickness and isolation in a new country
- Family expectations and pressure from back home
- Cross-cultural relationships and marriage
- Holding onto identity while settling somewhere new
- Sessions in Hindi or English
- Booking calendar shown in your own local time
Expats Living in India
If you've relocated to India for work or family and it's taking longer than expected to settle in, that's a normal reaction, not a personal failing.
- Culture shock and adjusting to daily life in India
- Isolation and rebuilding a support network from scratch
- Relocation and work-related stress
- Learning to navigate a new country's pace and systems
- Sessions conducted fully in English
- In-person appointments available at the Delhi practice
What Sessions Address
The clinical work doesn't change based on which direction you moved.
- Anxiety and depression
- Relationship and marriage strain
- Trauma and grief
- Adjustment to a new country
- Parenting between two cultures
- Work and relocation stress
How Sessions Work
Pick whichever fits where you actually are.

What Clients Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you see clients in person, or only over video?
Both. If you're in Delhi, you can come in for a face-to-face session. If you're abroad, sessions run over a private video call instead.
How does scheduling work across time zones?
The booking calendar shows available slots converted to your own local time, so there's no back-and-forth working out what 9pm in Delhi means where you are.
Can sessions be conducted in Hindi?
Yes. Sessions can run in Hindi, English, or a mix of both, depending on what you're more comfortable expressing yourself in.
What therapeutic approach do you use?
Sessions draw on CBT, REBT, DBT and client-centred, trauma-informed methods, adapted to what the individual client needs rather than a fixed script.
How do international clients pay?
Payment options are discussed during the free consultation, based on where you're paying from.
